In 2009, the Buena Vista School District identified the area of Curriculum and Instruction as a critical area of need. To address this critical need, district personnel have been working to develop and make public preK-12 curriculum that emphasizes critical thinking skills and is responsive to the needs of individual learners. It is also essential to this process that curriculum and instruction is monitored through the use of local assessments.
BVSD has developed the C-TACHs (Content Targets and Assessment Checklists) for every subject area that are aligned to CORE and Colorado Standards. A variety of assessments are used to monitor the growth and achievement of students as defined by the C-TACHs.
Technology is embedded in all curriculum and instruction in BVSD as a means of supporting our mission of responding to the needs of every student and ensuring every student reaches the peak of success.
