2025 School Board Election

The Buena Vista Board of Education is comprised of seven members who are elected by the local voters for a four year term. Two members are at-large representatives and five members represent specific districts or areas within the school district.

We have 3 open seats for the November 4th election. All are 4-year seats: District 2, District 10 & At-Large.

Legal Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old.

  • Must have lived in and be a registered elector of the Buena Vista R-31 District for a least 12 months

  • Must not have been convicted of a sexual offense against a child.

  • Must not be an employee of the district. See Policy GP-11 here.

Candidate Timeline*

August 6, 2025: First Day to pick up and circulate nomination petitions. Petitions available at the Buena Vista School District Administration building: 113 N. Court Street.

August 29, 2025: Last day for school director candidates to file a nomination petition with circulators’ notarized affidavits, notarized acceptance of nomination, and written notice of intent to be a candidate

November 4, 2025: Election Day
